I actually ordered holiday cards this year from MyPublisher and I love them. I am very random with sending out holiday cards and this year I had so much inspiration (thanks to pinterest) that I wanted to order some.
As my
cards from friends and family arrive in the mail each I realized that I want to
see the pictures and notes on display before they go away in a few short
weeks. I usually just put them in a decorative basket or tape them to the kitchen doors, but this year I wanted to be a bit more decorative. I have seen tons of card displays for sale, but I wanted to make something quick with what I already had.
Most people display on their fridge, but my fridge is totally off limits for hanging anything. Not because it isn’t magnetic, but because my
husband and I are not fans of "stuff".
I bought some wired ribbon a few weeks back for $1 at Michaels in one of their sale bins. I try to keep generic ribbon on hand so I can
use it year round. There is something about putting real ribbon on a gift that makes it feel so special. Since I had the ribbon I figured I could use that to hold the cards.
To make this short, I took the sparkly green ribbon and made a nice
bow, measured the black polka dot ribbon so it would hang a few feet to the
ground and then sewed them together. I was going to use hot glue, but I had out the
needle and thread to fix a button and I
wanted it to be strong enough to hold up to the weight of the cards.
I was going to us clothespins to attach the individual cards,
but I would have had to spray paint them.
The wood wouldn’t have coordinated and I knew I would be totally anal about it. So instead I used small binderclips. It took me about 10 minutes to put this guys
together and I couldn’t be happier. I
attached it with a command hook and done.
Quick, easy, and super cheap. I don’t think I would even be sad if I didn’t
use it again next year. I could event make
it apart and reuse the ribbon. Oh man,
totally just sounded like my mother. I mean, who reuses ribbon from
presents??
